Special Resource Unit's called out to Duer St. blaze
At 9:30pm NPRS, on Feb. 10, 2010, was dispatched to Duer St. with the fire department for the working structure fire. The NPRS Special Resource Unit was then requested for rehab due to the extreme weather and size of incident and Green Brook EMS and the Watchung Rescue Squad were requested to assist in rehab. Fire departments from Plainfield, Watchung, and Green Brook were called in to assist in controlling the blaze. Unfortunately the efforts by the fire departments were not enough and the house was deemed uninhabitable following the incident. There were no injuries but the resident was transported by Green Brook EMS to Somerset Medical Center for evaluation.

A few local endings help NPRS continue its duty to the community.
Two prominent organizations of North Plainfield have closed their doors this month, but in doing so have helped NPRS continue to provide its services to the community. Both St. Peter's Lutheran Church of North Plainfield and the Old Guard of the Plainfield's closed their doors after years of service to its members/congregation and the community. But that did not stop them from continuing to support the community. On Nov. 10, 2009, Michael Franko, Joseph Waller, Gus Johnson, and Charles Mingle, remaining members of the Old Guard, presented Sgt. Jon DeOliveira a check for $3,000, while St. Peter's Lutheran Church donated $2500 from the sale of their building. The entire NPRS family is grateful for their undying support and generosity.
